Charlie: Our course goes through Mossend and Stirling avoiding Edinburgh.
Dhall: Oh... ok.

*The train opens up throttle as it powers through the Lake District.*

*Dhall is back in the cab of the 47.*

Dhall: Man! I wish they could make up their minds! Oh well. If undecided, I'll head for Aviemore.

*He opens up throttle and heads in the direction of Aviemore*

Dhall: So Louis, tell me. How did you score an old bomb such as this?

Louis: Oh this can's only running for a week. BR wanted to give it a bash for a while before putting it back in that museum. Funny thing is, they're doing it to every old Spark they've got.

Dhall: I see. So why am I supposed to go to London?

Louis: Well it's two things really. The first is this. UNIT wanted me to tell you that someone had messed up their armoury. Aparrently some chav decided to slap a UNIT sticker on some stolen rayguns and put them on the shelves. You were using one of them, I think. Metropol are close to catching that bastard. Say, do you know where that gun came from?

Dhall: Class & eXellence I think.

Louis: That dirty mob? Cor, that chav must've wanted UNIT dead by the look of it. He was probably trying to get C & X to sue UNIT and probably take over their UK and hometown bases. Luckily they still have the guns. They're telling me they plan to send them back to C & X tomorrow and start refilling the armoury with qaulity UNIT weapons.

Dhall: Riiiight. So what's the other thing.

Louis: British Rail have told me that you can only serve a small portion of the West Coast main line now.

Dhall: WHAT?

Louis: I know. It's probably due to that Scratchwood mob. You seem to fit in there quite nicely. Anyways, they've told me that you've now been rostered to only serve trains between Birmingham and London Euston, with the exception of the Birmingham Pullman.

Dhall: Thank gar. I can still drive pullmans.

Louis: And the other thing is, you're no longer rostered to drive that 308 anymore. You've been assigned to a class 304 number 304036.

Dhall: Wow! Finally! Something that DOESN'T break down.

Louis: Yeah. It's in London Euston. But you'll have to get everything else sorted first.

Dhall: Right right.

*The NER Tyneside EMU keeps going to London Euson*

Electricfox: "Nope, it's worse than a fondant based chocolate snack that can survive a nuclear apocalypse."
Domino: "It's something to do with black holes and dark matter."
Electricfox: "A Large Hadron Collider mate."
Keab: "Wow...haven't used one of those in a while...is this a Torchwood thing?"
Electricfox: "No, standard Earth scientists."
Domino: "God help us all."
Keab: "Dear god no, they'll probably punch a hole in the space-time continuum."
Electricfox: "We'd better hope to god there isn't a rift under that mountain, otherwise it'll be the Torchwood One incident all over again."
Keab: "Can this thing go any faster?"
Electricfox: "The dial goes up to eleven!"

*He floors the throttle and pushes RSG to her limits.*

*Charlie wakes up in the rear cab having fell asleep inside after locking himself inside.*

Charlie: What am I doing in France?
Electricfox (from front): He always has to show up!
Charlie: Oh... that. The Large Hadron Collider... why did the judge allow CERN to build it all the way back in 1998?

*Charlie shrugs and falls asleep, the familiar guitary patterns to Take Me Out ringing in his ears.*

*Meanwhile, a handcart being pushed in front of the Deltic.*
*Matt is clinging on for dear life.*

Matt: DAMN YOU JAMIE! WHY WON'T YOU LOOK WHERE YOU'RE GOING?!? I ONLY TOOK THIS THING TO GO DOWN INTO TOWN!!!

*Electricfox spots Matt through the window and waves absently.*

Matt: YOU TOTAL...

*The rest of Matt's speech is lost as the train roars into the tunnel.*

*Part-way between Moss Junction and Scratchwood.*

Keab: "I think this things is actually working!"

*The Robo-shoveller holds the shovel on high and then attacks Keab with it whilst screaming in an electrical voice.*

Electricfox: "What the hell?!"
Keab: "Dammit!"

*He goes to fire the Zat-gun at it, but it knocks it out of his hand with the shovel. He grabs a poker and winds up having a sword-fight, shovel versus poker on the Terriers footplate.*

Electricfox: "Christ...there's not enough room for this!"

*He climbs out onto the side of the tank locomotive and holds on while Keab continues to battle the Robo-Shoveller. Clangs and crashes come from the footplate as the Terrier carries on driverless.*

*Meanwhile in the Brakevan, the three are huddled around the lit stove, getting what warmth they can from it.*

Charlie: "Fortunately, I've been to Romania before and like South America, know all about it."
Dhall: "Going a bit fast on this section, aren't we?"
Matt: "Wonder if everything is alright up the front?"
Dhall: "I'll go check..."

*Dhall gets up from the stove and looks up the train using the guards window at the side of the 'van. He sees something being thrown out of the side of the footplate which disappears into the night.*

Dhall: "Seems alright..."

*Meanwhile on the footplate, Electricfox is just climbing back in.*

Electricfox: "For that, you're firing manually for the rest of the trip!"
Keab: "Fine...but when we get to Moss Junction I'm going to need a few plasters!"
Electricfox: "Right...but first, I need to put these brakes on a bit or we're going to wind up in the river Scratch!"

*He slows the train down for the sharp corner near Moss Junction and then rolls into the station.*

*Somewhere near Peterborough*

Electricfox: "So we're pulling in at Peterborough to paint her up and get her oiled and ready for the run the day after tomorrow?"
Keab: "Yup."
