The Engine sheds, used for the stabling, and limited maintenance of locomotives. Run by Darthmunch, who is usually found in the Shed office, enter if you dare!! Laughing

(7/1/09 edit: changed the MPD code from 1L to 14G. The main Bedford station had a 14 area code, with the main depot being 14A Cricklewood.)

*Electricfox chases the Organoid across the shed yard and between two class 47s.*

Electricfox: "Dammit! You strange creature! Get away from those spoons!"
Organoid: "Rrrr?"

*The Organoid pauses for a moment and examines its surroundings.*

*Then, just as Electricfox gets near it, it leaps over the class 47 and runs across the main line and up the embankment the other side.*

Electricfox: "Oh no you don't!"

*Electricfox checks both ways and then runs across the line after it.*

Chris: A spoon eh? *Thinks* Lets go for a spin.
*After starting a 47 up, he roars out of the depot for a wander round the network.*

*A class 47 starts up and chucks out a load of clag before rattling across the points and heading out of the yard.*

A few minutes later a Midland Spinner steam locomotive rattles across the points and slowly eases over the ash pits before stopping. The crew jump out and prepare to dump the fire.

Darthmunch: "Wow...that's an OLD engine..."

*Electricfox freewheels his bike down the side of the railway line leading into the depot and then parks it next to the staff room, he goes inside and comes out again after a few minutes with a grubby overall on.*

Electricfox: "Chris?"

*Chris comes out of his office.*

Chris: "Ah...you'll be here for the spaceship, she's on road four."
Electricfox: "Cheers...Keab'll be down here in a minute, show him where I am, will ya?"
Chris: "Will do."

*Electricfox walks inside the depot and climbs up onto the footplate of the class 9F. A few minutes later Keab joins him.*

Electricfox: "Ah...there you are, right...the fire's been pretty well banked up now, so just keep an eye on it and shovel more in as needed. Also, keep an eye on the water, don't let that get low or there'll be big trouble. Use these to put more water in the boiler, we can pick up more water on the way if needed. This is the blower, use that to increase draught to the fire by directing the steam exhaust up the chimney. Anything else, I'll explain on the way. Right...all set?"

Keab: "Err...I think so..."

Electricfox: "Ok...let's get down to the station."

*Electricfox winds the reverser into reverse, looks down the tender and then releases the brakes, pulling the regulator towards him gently, the 9F rolls slowly out of the MPD.*

*66045 yings into the yard, throwing a large amount of clag into the air. Just as it wheels into road two, there's a loud bang and the engine stops.*

Chris: "Oh sod it...go fetch the 08!"

*A Class 08 rattles up behind the 66 and pushes it into the shed.*

Chris: "Bloody things...probably a broken turbocharger...stupid Yank rubbish..."

*Charlie arrives just behind the Shed in a Class 86 that came on the rear of the 1720 Euston-Manchester.*
Charlie: Chris?
Chris: Yeah?
Charlie: Hi, I need an empty steel flats wagon for this 86.
Chris: Why?
Charlie: A satellite came through the roof of Platform 7 earlier, and...
Chris: A satellite?
Charlie: Satellite. It was a British government satellite. The government told Matt to take it onto the next freight to London.
Chris: Why didn't he go?
Charlie: He was unable to do so. Also, the freight Electricfox is piloting is bound for Southampton Docks.
Chris: But it's path goes via Wembley Yard.
Charlie: It's not due to stop there. Oh, and I'll take the 66 back to London if you want.
Chris: Nah, it's fine here. Anyway, there isn't any steel wagon avaliable but there is a furniture van.
Charlie: But they're made from wood!
Chris: They treat the wagons with flameproof chemicals after a furniture train caught fire in 1960.
Charlie: Fine.

*The 86 couples up to the steel wagon. Charlie walks back up to the 86's opposite cab and then initiates the gears.*

Chris: Oh, Charlie!
Charlie: Yeah?
Chris: You need to stop at Carl's Yard. There is a steel train bound for Wembley Yard.
Charlie: Isn't this the government's pledge to try and reduce CO2 emissions?
Chris: That and the fact the steel is for construction projects.
Charlie: Ah yes.

*The signal clears to green and the 86 soon accelerates onto the support line onto the West Coast Main Line connection.*

*A light stumbles across the darkness into the yard.*

Electricfox: "Oh bugger, ouch! That was a rail!"
Chris: "Jamie, what's going on?"
Electricfox: "No idea, but it's probably to do with Derek, Charlie or Balowski. I'm just going to run a 56 and a generator coach up to platform one."
Chris: "Righto, I'll go fire up the backup generator for the MPD."
Electricfox: "What...you mean the Deltic?"
Chris: "THAT'S NOT A GENERATOR!!"

*A wrench flies past Electricfox's head.*

Electricfox: "Alright, alright, I know what you meant. Just couldn't resist winding you up."
Chris: "Git!"

*Electricfox laughs and then climbs up into the 56, fires it up, shunts back onto a generator coach sitting in the shed sidings, and then heads out to the cafe.*

*A couple of minutes later a class 66 yings into life and the shed lights come on.*

Chris: "A Shed, for a shed, it's only fair...besides, it's about the only thing they're good for..."

*There's some clanking and crashing noises coming from within 86250.*

Chris: "Oi! Who's in there?!"

*Electricfox walks out of the engine compartment and into the number one cab.*

Electricfox: "Oh...'ello Chris!"
Chris: "What the hell are you doing out here at this time of morning?!"
Electricfox: "Insomnia, best cured by tickering with the motors of a class 86!"
Chris: "You're mad...."
Electricfox: "I wouldn't be working here if I wasn't, would I?"
Chris: "That's true....just don't set fire to anything."
Electricfox: "I'll do my best!"

*Electricfox returns to tinkering with 86250s motors.*

Electricfox: "BR Blue Grey everytime, I need a small loco to take a mixed goods to London, what have you got for me?"
Chris: "Most locos are out at the moment, but there is..."

*Chris points across the yard*

Electricfox: "Perfect!"

*32650 clanks across the pointwork and into the yard, she slows to a halt above the ashpits and Electricfox sets about emptying the fire. The noise wakes Chris up.*

Chris: (Yawning) "Morning Jamie, you're back late, or early..."
Electricfox: "Yeah, got stuck in London, thought it best to wait until the morning to head out, less busy."
Chris: "Cool, well, I'm going back to bed..."
Electricfox: "Yeah, seeya!"

*Chris stumbles back to his carriage, and when Electricfox has finished dampening down the Terrier tank, he uses a Class 08 to shunt her back into the MPD and then heads off back to the signalbox.*

*Electricfox comes running down the track with a suit on, shirt untucked and a briefcase in his hand.*

Electricfox: "Bloody 'ell! Chris! Where's '250?!"
Chris: (From within office) "Road Five!"
Electricfox: "Cheers mate!"

*Electricfox dashes around the side of the MPD which has OHLE and climbs up into 86250 which is smartly turned out in IC livery.*

Electricfox: "Right gal, I know it's been a while, but this is an emergancy...ok, so...first time?"

*Electricfox turns the key, nothing happens.*

Electricfox: "Oh come on girl!! Oh...wait...pantograph..."

*Electricfox mutters under his breath, raises the pantograph, hears the reassuring sizzle and pop outside the cab and then turns the key, the cooling fans immediately start up their familiar whine, and the AWS buzzer goes off.*

Electricfox: "Argh! Loud noise, shut up! Shut up!"

*Electricfox hits the AWS cancel button angrily, then settles down into the driving seat, putting his briefcase down to one side before realising the brakes and slowly easing 'The Glasgow Herald' out of the shed, giving a quick two-tone to Chris in his office, as the failed class 90 is towed into the shed by a Class 08.*

Chris: All Cyber units! Cloak yourselves!
Cyber Unit 1: WHY-IS-THIS-NES-CES-SARY CONTROLLER?
Chris: This Rose Beeching person is sniffing around, best keep a low down.
Cyber Unit 1: YES-CONTROLLER!

*All the cybermen in the shed disappear*

Chris: That should do for now.......
