Scratchwood Station

*Across Scratchwood isolated groups of children are being loaded onto yellow coaches. People are beginning to fight them, to try and resist them and to attempt to win back their kids but meeting scores of resistance in army figures.*

*Inside the Torchwood Base, the TV monitors are showing a live feed of this.*
Domino: Christ this is getting out of hand...
Sparrow: If there's two evils as great as each other, who do you fight for?
Domino: Yes. It's a question of time before we have a full scale riot on our hands. And then what do we do?
Sparrow: No idea.

*Green mist appears in the air above Scratchwood. A cylindrical silvery shape can be faintly seen at the heart of the mist. Most people in the town however are oblivious to the sight - clearly here this sort of thing is normal.*

*The cylinder slams into the ground at the Common, a couple of seconds later the Torchwood car shows up, Domino and Sparrow jump out.*

Domino: "Ok, Sparrow, get Balowski to set up the cordon, keep those idiots away."
Sparrow: "Not many people around...they seem to be behaving like this is perfectly normal."
Domino: "...they've been living here too long, set up the cordon anyway."

*Sparrow runs off to set up the cordon as Domino approaches the cylinder, pistol drawn and ready as it begins to unscrew.*

Domino: *speaking into a radio* "All units...the pod is opening, stand-by on airstrike."

*Meanwhile...inside the cylinder, inside the Reliant Robin.*

Charlie: "I sure hope that Torchwood doesn't blow us up..."
Keab: "Relax, it'll be fine...I've commenced the seal opening, it's at 75%"
Electricfox: "Seems kinda strange seeing it from the inside..."
Keab: "Sure does...seals at 50%"
Derek: "THANK THE EMP-ER-OR THAT THIS IS O-VER!"
Matt: "I just want to get back to my cafe..."
Keab: "Seals at 25%"

*Electricfox looks thoughtful.*

Electricfox: "Keab...you did equalise the pressure didn't you?"
Keab: "The...what?"
Electricfox: "The pressure...inside and outside the cylinder?"
Keab: "Errr..."

*Outside the cylinder*

Domino: *speaking into a radio* "Ok...begin your run now, take cover everyone here they come!!"

*The lid of the cylinder pops off like a cork and lands a few meters away, then a Reliant Robin dressed up to look like a Space Shuttle flies out with a dull 'thunk' and lands in a tree nearby getting wedged in it.*

Domino: *speaking into a radio* "Abort! Abort! All units stand down..." *she bursts out laughing* "False alarm..."

*The door opens, Electricfox looks down at the ground and sees Domino.*

Electricfox: "Honey, I'm hoooome!!"

*Matt, Charlie and Keab all promptly fall out of the car and onto the slightly damp turf at the foot of the tree.*

Charlie: Well, the important thing is that we're back on Earth.
Matt: I hate space travel. Remind me never to do that again.
Derek: OH COME ON! THAT WAS FUN!

*The temporary Torchwood barriers and stuff like that are taken down... though frankly they never needed to be up in the first place.*

Derek: SHALL WE RE-TURN TO THE STA-TION!
Charlie: Yes, let's go.

*Charlie and Keab get up while Matt crawls across the slippy common turf.*

Electricfox: Umm... can someone help me down?
Derek: NO! GET DOWN YOUR-SELF LA-ZY HU-MAN!

Charlie: I'm confused, can we go home now?
Matt: Yeah, I dread fo think how looted I've gotten.
Domino: Hmm? Oh yeah, you can go.
Charlie: Fantastic. TAXI!

*A taxi pulls into the drive. In step Charlie, Matt, Keab and Derek, and soon the taxi heads off back to the good old station.*

*Scratchwood NPP*

*Keabs car pulls up outside, the Torchwood team jumps out and run towards the plant which is full of evacuating employees.*

Electricfox: "Right...so what's going on?"
Keab: "The main reactor lost coolant when the Saxons took over, the core is going critical. Approximately fifteen minutes until it melts through the containment."
Sparrow: "Can't we just get the coolant back on line?"
Domino: "If it was that simple they would have done it you idiot! The earthquake caused by that..." *She points at Gallifrey overhead* "fractured the coolant lines."
Electricfox: "Keab, can we fix the broken lines?"
Keab: "Yes, but not in fifteen minutes."
Electricfox: "What are our options?"
Keab: "We need to SCRAM it, the technicians would have but the system has gone offline."
Electricfox: "Right, let's get to the control room."

*They run up to the control room, a technician has stayed behind, trying to bring the control systems back online.*

Technician: "I can't get it back online, something has hacked it."
Electricfox: "Could it be from those Russian idiots the other month who wanted Balowski?"
Keab: *Shoos the Technician out of the way and sits down at the keyboard* "It could be, they left in a hurry after the Armed police showed up, they might have left something behind."

*The Technician runs out of the doorway and looks up.*

Technician: "Hey, it's gone, that planet!"
Domino: "Well, that's one problem solved I guess."
Keab: *typing furiously* "Ain't going to mean anything if I can't get this system online."
Electricfox: *sits down at another computer.* "Domino, Sparrow, get the rest of the Technicians out of here."
Domino: "But..."
Electricfox: "NOW!!"

*Domino and Sparrow round up any remaining Technicians and begin shooing them out of the power plant.*

Electricfox: "We're not going to be able to do this, are we?"
Keab: "Nope...the code is too complex for me to understand."
Electricfox: "At least we won't feel anything."
Keab: "Wrong reaction buddy...we'll face a week or two of agonising radioactive death."
Electricfox: "I was trying to be optimistic...Domino would hurt me otherwise."

*Keab chuckles.*

Electricfox: "Meltdown in one minute...well...it's been...emotional."

*There's a whirring noise behind them, the screens fill with code.*

Electricfox: "Keab...what you doing?"

*He looks at Keab who is looking behind them. He turns and sees the Doctor pointing his sonic screwdriver at the computer console, behind him is the classic blue police box.*

Electricfox: *in awe* "...it's you..."
Keab: "But Gallifrey, the Time War..."
Doctor: "All fixed...like this reactor. Now...onward!"

*He waves and darts back into the blue police box which fades away.*

Electricfox: "Well...I...erm..."
Keab: "How about we just keep this to ourselves."
Electricfox: "...good idea..."
Keab: "Now...I don't know about you...but...I could just do a Turkey lunch."
Electricfox: "What...one of Matts?"
Keab: "Are you nuts? We'll get a Turkey Donner from Comical Alis, he should be open about now."
Electricfox: "Sounds like a plan."

*They get up and leave the control room.*

*Electricfox, Keab and Domino are walking down the street that leads into Scratchwood Central station for a train back to the Junction. It is heavily snowing.*

Domino: That was nice of the Doctor to save everyone for us.
Keab: Just wish he could do something about this. It's f*cking freezing!
Electricfox: Yeah. I just hope our train to Scratchwood Junction isn't cancelled.

*The group arrive in the warmth of buildings of Central station, to be confronted by a departure screen full of cancelled trains and a long queue for the rail-replacement bus service awaiting outside.*

Keab: Oh... crap.

*The announcer at the station chimes, as a snow-coated Class 321 EMU sits in the platform above stranded.*

Central Station PA: Due to heavy snow affecting the railway electrical equipment, all trains from this station are cancelled. Passengers are advised to catch rail replacement bus services, leaving from the station forecourt. This will take them to Scratchwood Junction, where trains are still running, albiet delayed. Thank you.

*Electricfox, Keab and Domino do not look impressed.*

Electricfox: Crap.
Keab: So what do we do know? Do we walk or take the bus?
Domino: Walk? In this weather? Are you mad?

Keab: "Don't worry, I'm sure the car will take it!"

*Domino and Electricfox look at him and then at the car.*

Electricfox: "That thing gets stuck trying to get out of the station carpark..."
Keab: "It's a Russian car, it must be able to survive these temperatures!"
Electricfox: "Well, it looks as though the bus services have been cancelled too, so we might as well chance it."

*They get into Keabs car.*

Keab: "Right...just have to hotwire it...the key snapped in the lock last week and the local key shops don't do Soviet keys."
Domino: "Are you sure those buses were cancelled..."

*The car whirs into life and then chugs along the streets, partially sideways.*

Keab: "Hmm, grip is definately not as strong as it could be..."
Electricfox: "That would be because we're on ice...watch that scooter!"
Keab: "Bah, he shouldn't be out in this weather..."
Domino: "Neither should we!!"
Keab: "I don't remember that tree being there!"
Electricfox: "That's because the road is over there!"
Keab: "Oh yeah...stupid Highways Agency moving roads."
Domino: "We're so dead..."

*The TARDIS flies over Scratchwood Town Centre, only on fire. It flies over the station, the shopping centre and the main high street. A man in battered brown trousers, blue shirt and tie is hanging on with a sonic screwdriver in his mouth. Soon he crawls into the burning box before the TARDIS narrowly avoids crashing into Midland Tower before suddenly jumping and flying away to a far-flung corner of the UK.*

Charlie *from station*: Good, no big insurance premiums to be paid.

Radio nearby: "Prisoner Zero will vacate the human residence or the human residence will be incinerated..."

Electricfox: "BUT I'M NOT IN ANYONES HOOOUUSSSEEE!!"

There appears to be some form of commotion before they finally depart*

*A person in a Mercedes passing through Scratchwood is unnerved by the arrival and is even more surprised that noone is scared.*
Guy Passing Through *panicky*: What's that?
Scratchwood Local: That? Oh don't worry, its just an alien spaceship. It happens a lot.
Guy Passing Through: Alien spaceship?!?
Scratchwood Local: Yup.
Guy Passing Through: But... but... you sound like its normal?!??
Scratchwood Local: Oh it is. Don't worry about it - we're only worried if something that kills us all hops out.
Guy Passing Through: But... but... but...
Scratchwood Local: Don't worry about it. Best be on your way, okay.

*The car crawls out towards the station.*
