My home!

Scratchwood Junction signalbox, balanced a bit precariously over the lines and with a backup computer signaller 'obtained' by myself.

Also, Ali, the assistant signalman, may be found in here...making cups of tea or polishing the floors...ANYTHING but touching one of the levers... Laughing

*Thunder crashes and rain lashes the windows as the wind howls.*

Electricfox: "Bloody weather...I mean, look at it..."

*Lightning flashes as a call attention comes through which he answers.*

Electricfox: "Evenin' like this, I'd rather be a driver than perched up here...still, ne'er mind."

*Receives a 2-1 from Moss Junction and sets the line up for the train.*

*gets up into the nice warm signalbox from the 115, and sets about signalling it out as the rain eases off.*

*Rain lashes against the windows of the darkened 'box, two tilly lamps hanging from the ceiling rafters provide the only light.*

Electricfox: "Haven't seen rain like this in a while...wonder how the guys are doing down the station..."

*A Call Attention bell comes through for a goods train.*

Electricfox: "Supplies no doubt."

*Electricfox answers the bell and signals the train through to the ECML.*

*A few minutes later, two 9Fs pass under the 'box double heading a long line of goods wagons, they slow as they approach the flooded line, and then continue steadily.*

*The phone rings*

Electricfox: " 'ello, Scratchwood Junction 'box...yeah...yeah, that figures...alright...yup...righto." *hangs up.*

*Electricfox makes a note in the duty book.*

ECML closed, three stranded trains, OHLE down all over the place, general chaos....business as usual...

*Matt and Tim walk into the box. Derek hovers up behind them.*

Electricfox: Ello... bad down there is it?

Matt: Yeah... we've moved all the valuable stuff out of the cafe... speaking of which... CHARLIE! HOW YOU DOING WITH THAT TILL?!?

*Charlie and Ali struggle into the signal box, carrying a heavy till.*

Ali: Jesus, Matt, what do you keep in this thing?!?

Matt: All my money... and keys... and receipts... plus a small handgun in case any joker tries to rob the cafe... oh, and a box of Hand Grenades...

*Charlie and Ali freeze, and tighten thier grips on the till. Everyone stares at Matt.*

*Opens till with a crowbar*
Matt: NO VANDALISING MY TILL!
*Door breaks off*
Charlie: Too late...
Ali: Let's see... £2500 in change... receipts... gun... box of bullets... keys... GRENADES!
Matt: Don't pull the pin...
Ali: I won't... don't worry much...
Charlie: That's exactly what we're worried about...
Matt: Knowing him, catastrophe's not far away...
Ali: Just because I derailed a train with my first signalling movement doesn't mean I'm a catastrophe waiting to happen...
Derek: DIS-CON-TINUE SPEA-KING YOUR TRE-CHEAR-OUS LIES!
Ali: Why? I'm telling the truth!

*A Class 31 diesel pulls through the station compound on a light engine. After it passes, a crater is left in the tracks through Platform 5*

Electricfox: Dammit!
Charlie: *sigh* I think we'll need some concrete, stell and gravel.
Matt: When it's dry enough to work on it, of course.
Derek: I CAN WORK ON IT DUR-ING THE WET-NESS TO TRY AND RE-STORE NOR-MALI-TY!
Matt: You keep telling yourself that...
*Charlie walks onto the rainswept bow. He can see the town lightless and hopeless as the rain meancingly threatens to further spill onto the tracks north of the station without doing anything*

*There's a loud splash and the engine noise of the Class 31 suddenly shuts off.*

Electricfox: "Oh great...what idiot put a Ped there...Ali! Stop putting holes in the station and get down the sheds to find a steamer to pull it out...at least they're generally a bit more flood resistant...particularly the big ones...use a 9F or a 8F!"
Ali: "Alright, alright."
Electricfox: "And...hey...that pistol...that's one of mine!"
Matt: "No it's not..."
Electricfox: "Yes it is...look...it's a Makarov...where would you get a Makarov from?"
Matt: "Balowski?"
Electricfox: "Oh please, you know he has more modern pistols than that...give it back!"
Matt: "But I need it!"
Electricfox: "What for? You have Mr Salt and Shake over there."
Derek: "YOU RACIST BAS-TARD!!"
Matt: "Pleeeeease Jamie, just in case those chavs show up again..."
Electricfox: "Oh...alright...alright...let's get this till somewhere safe...where's that Ali gone?!"

*Phone rings.*

Electricfox: "Hello!! Yes, Ali? Yes, I can barely hear you...what did you say? On top of a Class 08? What are you doing up there?! Oh...right...ok...well...erm...you'd better swim back here..." *hangs up*

Matt: "What was that about?"
Electricfox: "It would appear our engine shed is under about four foot of water...Ali is wading back as we speak..."

Charlie: Don't be ridiculous, 4 feet?
Electricfox: Yes, 4 of the 16 feet height is underwater, so I think that we'll need to replace several train components.
Matt: There's a bunch at the Wembley-Willesden depot complex.
Electricfox: How can we get there?
Charlie: The line south of Scratchwood isn't as affected.
*Enter Ali, who has the appearance of a drowned rat*
Ali: BRRR.... cccccan I hhhhave a ttttea?
Electricfox: But that's your job!
Matt: Er.. okay, Ali. Here's one.
*Ali drinks his tea*

Charlie: This is going to take a few million quid to fix.
Matt: Well you're the one with too much in his bank account...
Electricfox: WHAT?!
Charlie: Sssshhhh...
Ali: You should provide the payroll!
Charlie: If I had any left for it...

Matt: Oh shut up... Hey, where is Balowski anyway?

*The sound of a helicopter approaching is heard. Everyone leans out of the window*

Electricfox: Uh oh... that looks Russian to me...

*The helicopter gets closer, and begins to descend.*

Matt: Please tell me we aren't getting rescued...

Derek: THE HU-MAN FLY-ING MACHINE IS COMING IN TOO FAST!!! IT WILL BE UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME!!!

Electricfox: EVERYONE HIT THE DECK!

*Everyone throws themselves into the floor, except Derek, who charges out of the door, and lands in the water with a loud splash.*

Derek: OW!

*There is a sickening crash, as the helicopter hits the roof of the box. Wood and dust falls from the ceiling. The helicopter manages to get off of the roof before it collapses, and hovers just above. A man comes down on a cable, through the open window and stands proudly, grinning from ear to ear.*

Balowski: Greetings, incredibly damp comrades!

Electricfox: WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY NEW ROOF?!
Balowski: I have a problem with ze steering, Komrade Electricaldog.
Electricfox: How many times do you need to be told it's Electricfox?
Balowski: Zat's not important komrade, for ze Amerikans have jacked open ze riverbanks to flood the town. You must flee komrades before the whole thing implodes catastrrophically.
Charlie: You mean like you did to the signalbox?
Balowski: Quiet, komrade Hi-Fi.

*Derek levitates out of the wet pool that is under the southern viaduct and is horrified to see Balowski around*
Derek: AAGHH!!! WHY DOES THAT MOR-ON HAVE TO BE A-ROUND? WE CAN GET OUT OF THIS MESS OUR-SELVES!
Matt: You sure?
Derek: YES!
Tim: I don't see a way out of this myself...
Charlie: What choices have we got? Either go with Balowski to London or stay in a town that could be mistaken for a fish bowl.
Ali: I say we make our own way to London.
Electricfox: How exactly do we do that?
Matt: Yea, I mean Balowski may have a rubbish Russian helicopter...
Balowski: Vatch it komrade.
Matt: But it's the only plan we've got. Or we could walk to a station 2 miles south...
Charlie: I'd rather fly with a dodgy Russian pilot really...

Electricfox: *sigh* "Yes Balowski, the Americans flew an attack helicopter into my roof."
Balowski: "What did I tell you?! The Americans are ruthless in their plans for global domination, they will stop at..."

Balowski: "Mine apologies Comrade Derek, but the world must be warned!"
Matt: "Well, Jamie, you'll stay here...who's going to London?"
Charlie: "Count me in, if we're going to get any help, it'll be from London."
Ali: "I'm in...but...just one thing..."
Matt: "Yes?"
Ali: "Does Balowski really have to be the pilot?"

Matt: To be perfectly honest, I'd rather walk the 65 miles to London then travel with Balowski.
Balowski: But ze Amerikans lay traps for ze hitch hikers komrade.
Charlie: Not like signalbox vandals such as Balowski.
Balowski: But it was ze Amerikans komrade.
Charlie: Don't make me laugh. HA HA HA!
Matt: Oi! Shut up, you're not helping!
Charlie: Okay.
Electricfox: So, what help are ya getting from London?
Matt: I think we think of it as evacuation.
Electricfox: I'm coming if you're evacuating!
Charlie: I thought you said you're fixing your roof.
Electricfox: Well if you're evacuating then it's a different matter. Besides, maybe I can get Torchwood to provide some help.
Matt: Surely they've got better things to do.
Electricfox: Perhaps, but maybe we'll get help from there.
